Health First Europe would like to welcome MEP Dr. Milan Cabrnoch (ECR, Czech Republic) and MEP Gay Mitchell (EPP, Ireland) as new MEP supporters.
MEP Dr. Milan Cabrnoch is a Member of the European Parliament as well as a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists party and sits on the Committee on the Environment, Public health and Food Safety. Prior to retaining his position in the Parliament, he studied medicine and specialised in paediatrics with a particular interest in public health and safety as well as e-Health. He received the World Summit Award in 2005 for the IZIP project he co-wrote on e-Health and was also a contributor to Health First Europe’s recent publication “E-Quality in E-Health.”
MEP Gay Mitchell is a Member of the European Parliament representing Dublin, Ireland. Additionally, he is Member of the Fine Gael party in his home country and of the European People’s Party in the Parliament. He sits on both the Development Committee and on the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs in addition to being the Vice-Chairman of the EU delegation to the ACP (African Caribbean Pacific) - EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. MEP Mitchell takes part in the European Parliament’s bioethics group and published a paper in 2000 entitled ‘Restoring trust: A health plan for the nation’ in which he suggested, “If medicine can proceed in an ethical manner in a way which eases those suffering from illness and treats degenerative disease, it is important to support those working to achieve that goal and to learn about them at first hand.”
Health First Europe enthusiastically welcomes both MEP Cabrnoch and MEP Mitchell to our organisation and looks forward to future collaborations with them on HFE initiatives.
