MEP Françoise Grossetête has been a Member of the European Parliament since 1994 and belongs to the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) group. She is a prominent member of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee and serves on the Delegations for relations with the countries of Central America and the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly. In addition to these roles, she is a substitute member on the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Delegation for relations with Australia and New Zealand.
One of MEP Grossetête’s greatest achievements in health was in her role as the Rapporteur for the Directive on the application of patients' rights in cross-border healthcare. The purpose of the Directive was to establish a Community framework to facilitate access to safe and high-quality cross-border healthcare and to provide clarity for patients and healthcare professionals across the EU. MEP Grossetête was the key player in guiding and developing the proposal through the European Parliament. The legislation entered into force in April 2011 and must be transposed by Member States by October 2013.
Health First Europe is very excited to welcome MEP Grossetête as a Supporter and looks forward to our future collaboration.
